Our Residential Treatment Program serves children and youth across Northern and Central California. Children are referred from child welfare agencies and/or commercial insurance providers such as Kaiser, Anthem Blue Cross and Magellan. Most children and youth come to our residential program from a resource family, residential treatment program, hospital or their biological family home.
Our Partial Hospitalization Program serves children and youth from the Sacramento region referred by their commercial insurance provider such as Kaiser, Anthem Blue Cross and Magellan. Children and youth remain in their home while attending the day treatment program on our campus.
Our Sprouts Trauma Informed Care Preschool primarily serves children from Placer County however does have space available for children residing throughout the Sacramento region. Children are referred through Placer County Behavioral Health, Child Action, or parents paying privately. Children reside in their home while attending the Sprouts program during the day.
The Children’s Receiving Home offers a variety of structured yet supportive therapeutic programs to meet the individual needs of all of the children served in our various programs. We have a daily routine that encompasses a variety of services.
In our residential program, children and youth are supported to maintain their academic studies and are encouraged to participate in the after school Power Hour Program where they are supported in completing their homework or other educational enrichment activities. Children and youth continue to attend their original school of origin in the majority of situations.
Children participate in a number of therapeutic and social skill development groups and activities throughout the week based upon their individual treatment needs and interests.
Daily after-school recreation and activities are planned every week and participation is encouraged. Family visitation is strongly encouraged and supported throughout the week based upon individual family schedules. Our evening activities include movies, dances, game nights in the gym, etc. and are very popular. Recreation staff also plan regular off-grounds outings such as bowling, laser tag, shopping and seasonal activities.
No, we are a private, non-profit 501c3 agency. We receive referrals from Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, Nevada, Yolo, Amador, Sonoma and many other Northern and Central California counties. Most of our funding derives from grants, contracts, and donated dollars.
Children’s Receiving Home staff usually come from the field of Social Work, Social Services, Counseling or are otherwise committed to working with children. It is hard work and not for everybody. However, we are fortunate to have extremely dedicated people working here who have found within themselves the capability to do the work we are called to do. We can also use donations of new clothing, gift cards, activity supplies, and anything else you might imagine kids between the ages of 6 and 18 need.
